Jewellery Handcrafted by Julia in Vancouver, British Columbia

Bio Having been interested in arts and crafts all of my life, I am starting out on a new journey. In the past twelve months I have been designing and handcrafting jewellery. This has evolved into a passion and an obsession. In the early stages I was so chuffed that my friends were pleased to wear my pieces. I believe that the jewellery I make is fun and playful, but with a touch of class and sophistication and suitable for all ages. Now, after countless hours of designing and handcrafting, and with lots of encouragement from family and friends, I have decided to show my work on this site.

All the pieces are handcrafted from wire, which can be made from copper, sterling silver, silver or gold plated. Each piece is individual as no two pairs are exactly alike. I use glass beads, fresh water pearls, gemstones etc, some of which I have acquired locally and the rest from all over the world. I am fortunate enough to have a good friend, Margaret, who brings me the most yummy beads whenever she visits. I have also recycled vintage beads and findings that I acquired from places like Jordan, Istanbul and Saudi Arabia.

Earrings

The earrings are delicate looking yet very wearable as can be attested by my good friend Joan who plays tennis regularly wearing them. I am showing some of the earrings that I have made which can also be handcrafted in different colours but most of them will be one of a kind as I cannot duplicate the beads.

The earrings are priced at $15 - $25.

Bracelets

At a birthday lunch one day it was mentioned that it is really difficult to put on a bracelet with a clasp without help. I have favoured stretch nylon with no clasps for ease of putting them on. The knot is secured with a crimp bead and a special jewellery glue. However, if you would prefer to have a bracelet with a clasp, this can be accommodated. I find that the toggle clasp is the easiest to put on. The bracelet will be adjusted to fit your wrist.

The bracelets are priced at $18 - $25.

Necklaces

I am featuring a few of the pieces I have made from copper wire. Some are made with a combination of copper wire and leather straps. Most are chokers to be worn fairly short. As well, the length can be adjusted.

The necklaces are priced from $20 and up.
